Details |
Men of the Gordon Highlanders marching through Plymouth, with Colonel W E Gordon leading them on horseback, and civilians following them on either side, in the early days of the First World War. They were on their way to the docks, en route for Belgium. Sadly, many of them were later lost during the retreat from Mons, during a surprise German attack in the early hours of 25 August.
