Description | Gorton Party attacked in Masachusetts |
Details |
A group of men, women, and children run through the water towards a moored rowboat, as those on board help others climb on. Soldiers with guns in the distance chase them. The Gortonites were a party of extreme puritans led by Samuel Gorton, and had refused a summons by the Boston Court for land misdealing, and so soldiers were sent to arrest and retrieve the accused men.
