Grand Duke Michael Michaelovitch, son of the Grand Duke Michael Nicholovitch (grand-uncle of Tsar Nicholas II) first cousin of the Duchess of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (Grand Duchess Marie of Russia). He married morganatically Countess Torby and lived in Keele Hall, Staffordshire. During the first half of the Great War he lived at Kenwood House in Hampstead and was a prominent figure in London society. Pictured here at the time he was a guest of the Prince of Wales (King Edward VII) at Semley.
