Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich, as huge crowds assembled to watch I.K. Brunel's steamship 'Great Eastern' steam down the River Thames. Large numbers of spectators, both on shore and in little boats, with the Greenwich Observatory visible on top of the hill behind the Royal Naval College.
