Details

A page from The Tatler showing various scenes during a gymkhana held at Ranelagh in June 1928. Ranelagh was a polo ground and pleasure gardens for high society based in Barnes, South West London. It closed in 1939 and the house was demolished after a fire in 1954. During its heyday, it was a favourite destination for smart society. Pictures include a jolly wheelbarrow race, won by the Hon. Imogen Grenfell, Imogen Grenfell (again) on her pony with her father, Lord Desborough and Miss Nancy and Miss Barbara Blackwell in the costume race.
