Details

Large numbers of pedestrians and several horse-drawn carriages heading up the London to Epsom road, on Derby Day in 1860. A number of the pedestrians shown are musicians and entertainers, heading to the racecourse to earn some money. The Derby is one of Britain's biggest horse-racing events and has attracted large crowds since the middle of the 19th century.
