The successful candidate in the Presidential Election in America; Herbert Hoover the Republican Party's candidate for the Presidency. Born in 1874 he was involved in the relief activities in World War I. In 1928 he defeated Al Smith, the Democratic candidate and became President. Due to his demise in popularity he was defeated in his re-election bid in 1932 by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
