Royal Navy armed merchant cruiser 'Jervis Bay' (centre) steaming towards the German pocket-battleship 'Admiral Scheer', North Atlantic, November 1940. The 'Jervis Bay' was the only escort ship for Convoy HX84 when the German battleship appeared, and waged a desperately unequal battle to try to buy time for the convoy to flee.
