HMS 'Valorous' and one of the gigantic icebergs it encountered during its service in the British Arctic Expedition of 1875-76. The 'Valorous' served in a support capacity to HMS 'Alert' and HMS 'Discovery'; the ships commanded by Captain George Nares.
