Description Illuminated letter C with Queen Elizabeth I
Details

Illuminated letter C with Queen Elizabeth I sitting in state attended probably by three members of her privy council. The letter, a 19th century reproduction, is taken from a wood cut used by John Daye the printer, first in the original edition of Foxe's Book of Martyrs, which he printed in 1563, and afterwards in an edition of John Dee's 'General and Rare Memorials, pertayning to the perfect Arte of Navigation' in 1577.
