The inauguration of St. George's Hall, Liverpool. Interior from the south, during the performance of the first oratorio. Building started in 1838, the building was described in the Illustrated London News as a 'magnificent edifice...a perennial monument to the energy and public spirit , in the nineteenth century, of the people of Liverpool.'
