A sketch of Mr Tarnier's incubators for babies. The incubator is made of a wooden box with padded sides, for insulation. The box containing the child sits on a compartment of hot water bottles, with a chimney allowing the air to circulate. Thermometers are placed inside the incubator, to aid the nurses in checking that a consistant temperature is maintained.
