Details

A 'sing-song' in the British Embassy at Madrid, during the early stages of the Spanish Civil War, 1936. A number of British citizens in Madrid had sought refuge in the Embassy and this was one of the ways they passed time while sheltering from the warfare outside. In the foreground is one of the members of the Scottish Ambulance Unit.
