Details

Interned prisoners at Ruhleben camp near Berlin, dressed up in costume for a production of the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera, Trial by Jury. The play was produced by Mr J. H. Corless, a former member of the Wigan and District Amateur Operatic Society, and the musical director was Dr. A. G. Claypole, organist at St. Luke's, Derby. All the dresses used in the play were made in the camp by the prisoners.
