Jesse James Cleveland Owens (1913 - 1980), US athlete, pictured with his Olympic oak-trees and medals. Owens won four gold medals at the the 1936 Berlin Olympics - the 100 metres, the 200 metres, the long jump and the 4x100 metres relay.
