John Callcott Horsley R.A. (1817 - 1903), English artist. Horsley was the designer of the first commercially produced Christmas Card in 1843. Henry Cole had the idea for Christmas cards in 1840, just for his family and friends, but they were so well received that within three years it was a commercial operation.
