Description | King George V Silver Jubilee celebrations, 1935: royal balco |
Details |
An unusual scene of the interior of the royal balcony at Buckingham Palace, from the centre room: a spot where royals have stood on many historic occasions during loyal demonstrations by crowds at the gates. Above the parapet of the balcony is the Victoria Memorial, and beyond that, the Mall. The interior of the Centre Room was redecorated by Queen Mary in an Oriental style to harmonise with the original English Chinoiserie features, which were brought up from the Banqueting Room of the Brighton Pavilion.
