King George VI in uniform of Admiral of the Fleet, the rank he assumed on his accession when he automatically became head of the fighting forces. On the aiguillettes hanging from the right breast are the letters 'G.R', denoting that he was formerly personal Aide-de-Camp to his Father, George V. The Queen's stately gown is set off to magnificent advertage by a costly rope of pearls.
