Lady Beatty, formerly Ethel Tree, daughter of the Chicago department store founder, Marshal Field and wife of Admiral of the Fleet, David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty. Extremely wealthy, she is pictured in The Sketch who report that she had equipped her yacht, 'Sheelagh,' as a hospital ship in the opening weeks of the First World War.
