Lady Cynthia Asquith (1887-1960 nee Charteris), daughter of Lord Wemyss, author and notable survivor of the Titanic. Wife of Herbert Asquith, second son of the Prime Minister. Pictured in The Tatler during the First World War - the magazine comments that she 'has done a great deal of good work for the benefit of both our own and our allies' fighting men.' Her brother-in-law Raymond Asquith was killed in action later that year and Cynthia had already lost her brother, Lord Elcho.
