A lady seated at an elegant dining table raises a fork to her mouth. Published in The Bystander during World War One, the accompanying rhyming caption alludes to food rationing - 'Mary had a little lamb, (I deeply grieve to say, She would not keep to swedes and beans, Upon her 'meatless' day).
