Lady Furness, formerly Ada 'Daisy' Hogg, first wife of Marmaduke Furness, 1st Viscount Furness, pictured in nursing uniform in 1917. She established and equipped a hospital for officers in Harrogate close to their home, Nidd Hall. The hospital had 206 beds and Lady Furness took an active part in its administration. She died in 1921 aboard the Furness boat, 'Sapphire', and was buried at sea.
