Fancy dress for 1884 suggesting the party goer dress up as Lady Jane Grey, ill-fated and short-lived Queen of England for just nine days. Generally represented in grey and white satin, or black velvet and white satin. The surcoat opens over a jewelled stomacher and kirtle, and is bordered down the sides and bodice with ermine. The bodice is pointed at the waist and is square at the neck; chemisette of satin, quilted with pearls inside; close honeycomb ruff at throat, a velvet coif and veil.
