Description | Lady Wodehouse with her Airedale Terrier |
Details |
Lady Wodehouse, formerly Frances Margaret Montagu, twice-divorced wife of John Wodehouse, 3rd Earl of Kimberley (often thought to be the inspiration for P.G. Wodehouse' Bertie Wooster), posed here with her Airedale. The Bystander magazine describe her as a 'popular hostess in the world of sport..a keen rider to hounds...a capable lawn tennis player and of course a regular supporter of polo' (her husband was a leading polo player).
