Fires spreading through San Francisco, completing the ruin of the city. The business distract was completely devastated, with only the steel structures of modern buildings still standing. The San Francisco earthquake, measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, occurred on the 18th April 1906. A violent shaking lasted for 45 seconds and could be felt from Southern Oregon to Southern Los Angeles. Three thousand people lost their lives a destruction to property amounted to $400000000.
