Description Lieut-General Sir Nevil Macready by Percival Anderson
Details

General SIR CECIL FREDERICK NEVIL MACREADY (1862 - 1946) British Army officer serving in senior staff appointments in the First World War. Also served for two years as Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police. Pictured when he was Adjutant-General. Macready was responsible for the establishment of the Registration of War Graves Department which ensured every known grave of every soldier in every theatre of war was registered and photographed.
