Details

Most of the summer of 1911, dockers, railway workers and sailors, as well as people from other trades went on strike, paralysing Liverpool's commerce. Transforming trade unionism and Merseyside. For the first time trade unions establish themselves, becoming mass organisations of the working class. Photographs showing men been arrested, street scenes in Liverpool where mounted police are trying to keep crowded protesters at bay and finally thousands of strickers around St George's Hall.
