Picture No 10942199
Date 1919
Description London in 1919 - rebuilding roads outside John Lewis
Details

After a number of London thoroughfares were badly neglected during the First World War, many roads and famous streets were repaired by workmen in 1919. Oxford Street is picture here, with the road - entirely dug up - recalls a scene after a raid. John Lewis department store can be seen on the right.
