Description | London Life magazine - Jean Shrimpton chooses menswear |
Details |
Double page spread from London Life magazine, the impossibly cool but short-lived title published in the mid 1960s. In the first few months, Jean Shrimpton edited a fashion column and in this particular issue she selects a variety of ideas for gents including a Herbert Johnson Garbo-type hat (very androgynous), a striped shirt from Donald Davies, John Surtees driving gloves. Also featured are an illustration of the jacket designed for George Harrison by Julie Harris for the film help and on the right hand page is the well-known photographer David Montgomery in a Cossack-style coat he found in the Portobello Road for £15 (a considerable sum at the time). He says, 'I like it because it matches my hair.'
N.B. David Montgomery has recently confirmed this is him, and commented that the coat fell apart not long after that!
