Picture No 10731470
Date 12 August 1914
Description Lord Kitchener and Lord Haldane arriving at the War Office
Details

Mr Asquith's departure from precedent in calling Lord Kitchener, a soldier and member of the opposite party, to the office of Secretary for War met with enthusiastic approval. Immediately upon his appointment he flung himself into his new duties with characteristic vigour. He is seen here arriving at the War Office accompanied by Lord Haldane, who was the current Lord Chancellor and former War Minister.
