Luton Hoo, Bedfordshire, was originally designed by Robert Adam for the Earl of Bute, but the original house was destroyed by fire, then rebuilt by Robert Smirke. Bought by Julius Wernher, it was filled with artworks and artefacts of all kinds, but is now a private hotel and not open to the public.
