The maiden voyage of what was at the time the biggest ship in the world: the German Hamburg-Amerika cruise liner, Vaterland. Seen here in the Elbe before starting on a trial trip to the coast of Norway and back. Smaller photographs on either side show the entrance to the dining room and the swimming bath. Bottom centre is a sectional drawing of the Y-shaped funnel uptakes.
