Major H. G. Garnett (1879-1917), Croix de Guerre, South Wales Borderers, (Clifton, Lancashire and Gentlemen), the well-known wicket-keeper and left-handed batsman. Made over 1000 runs for Lancashire in 1905. Killed in action in the Cambrai area in 1917.
