Description Making Queen Elizabeth II's coronation robe
Details

Women at the Royal School of Needlework at Prince's Gate, Kensington, London, seen working on the Coronation robe for Queen Elizabeth II. The robe of pure silk was embroidered with a design chosen by the Queen. On the left of the table is Miss Violet Wise and on the right (furthest from the camera) is Miss. M. Evans, both of whom were engaged to work on the Coronation robes for the Queen Mother in 1937. In front on the right is Miss Bartlett. The School was founded by Princess Christian (Princess Helena) in 1872.
