Description | Mary Read fights male pirate |
Details |
Mary Read fights a fellow crew member on the beach whilst Anne Bonney spectates. Both Read and Bonney are said to have been attracted to one another despite neither of them being aware that they were both women. According to one witness the only deciphering characteristic the women shared to prove their sex was the largeness of their breasts, which is represented in the image.
