Maude Gonne, elderly mother of Sean MacBride, Eire's Foreign Minister, supported by Mrs MacBride and her son, Tiernan MacBride, as she appeared in Dublin for the Independence Day celebrations . Maud Gonne, stormy and patriotic petrel of Irish politics, was the inspiration of W.B. Yeats' "Kathleen na Houlihan".
