Max Mallowan and his wife, Agatha Christie. Mallowan was an archaeologist who began his apprenticeship in field archaeology with Leonard Wooley at Ur, then went on to make excavations for the British Museum at Arpachiyah near Nineveh. Agatha Christie was the English novelist and playwright, famed for characters such as Hercule Poirot.
