These illustrations show measures taken to combat the potato disease in Ireland. They include boiling and packing partially diseased tubers, burning stalks, Poor Law Inspectors investigating potato blight and ploughing out potatoes. The potato famine disaster in the mid-19th century caused terrible famine and misery.
