Description | Miss Margaret Whigham seeks sylvan solitude |
Details |
Exhausted from her relentless socialising (and appearances in society magazines like The Bystander!), Miss Margaret Whigham (1912-1993), later Mrs Charles Sweeny, then Duchess of Argyll, seeks some peace and quiet away from the photographer's lens at her parents' home in Ascot. Photograph shows her posed next to swans on a pond, while the inset photographs shows her in a more familiar environment, with the Hon. Max Aitken, son of Lord Beaverbrook at the Carlton, and with Eddie Tatham, sometime contributor to the Bystander, at the Cafe de Paris. It's a hard life.
