The palatial Mount Vernon Hotel at Cape May, New Jersey. Built in the Italianate style, it could accomodate 3,500 guests, who came seeking the sea air and healthful recreation. The premise is lit with gas, manufactured on site, and each bedroom is supplied with its own bath and hot and cold water, required 125 miles of gas and water pipes.
