The wedding of Mr William Adrian Vincent Bethell to the Hon. Clarissa Tennant on 19 August 1915, featured on the front cover of The Sketch magazine. The bride wore a gown of white brocade with delicate embroidery of silver thread on the tulle net of the sleeves and neck and a train of ermine trimmed silver tissue. The groom wore, 'the only wear,' in other words, khaki as he was in the 2nd Life Guards.
