Mlle Lina Cavalieri (1874 - 1944) married her second husband, Robert Winthrop Chanler (1872 - 1930) after a whirlwhind romance; he was a part of New York's prominent Astor family. The marriage was short-lived and Lina returned to Europe where she became a much-loved star.
