Mrs Margaret Sweeny (1912-1993) pictured in 1952 with her soon-to-be second husband the Duke of Argyll. Formerly Miss Margaret Whigham, she was the golden girl of the society columnists during the 1930s. Her marriage to her first husband, Mr Charles Sweeny, ended in 1947 and she married the Duke in March 1951. Their subsequent scandalous divorce case in 1962 ruined both the Duchess's finances and character.
