Clarissa Mary Sofer Whitburn, wife of Lt. Charles W. Sofer Whitburn, the well-known banker, pictured in 1914 when she unfortunately contracted chickenpox when bound to France with the Duchess of Westminster to nurse the wounded. She spent several weeks laid up in Paris recovering. She later became a well-known racehorse breeder. During the Second World War, she joined the W.A.A.F.
