IRENE CASTLE (nee FOOTE) Dancer, who with her husband Vernon Castle known as 'America's Dancing Sweethearts'. The pair were incredibly successful and their earnings were high. Vernon was killed in a flying accident in 1918. She was a renowned leader of fashion and is pictured here in a particularly unusual theatrical costume, striking some exotic looking poses.
