A Muslim family sheltering beneath the walls of the Purana Kila after fleeing from Delhi where retribution massacres began following news of atrocities against Sikhs and Hindus in the West Punjab. When this picture was taken they were resting at the Purana Fort while on their way to a refugee camp. Just some of the victims of the widespread violence between Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims following partition and the creation of modern India and Pakistan.
