Sir Norman Bishop Hartnell (1901 - 1979), British couturier and favourite fashion designer of the Queen and Queen Mother. Pictured in a series of photographs taken by Peter North of famous figures with chosen objects. Hartnell is pictured with a toy merry-go-round against a patchwork curtain containing a scrap from every dress he had designed.
