Description | Once More into the Breach - a Walrus to the rescue |
Details |
Humorous illustration by E.G Oakley-Beuttler depicting the air-sea rescue by a Shagbat amphibious biplane(known as a Walrus) over the North Sea during World War Two. On locating eight men adrift in a dingy, the plane came down on to the sea, and took them all aboard. Too heavy to take off in rough seas, the pilot taxied for over sixty miles to port.
