Group photo at the opening of Julia's Bureau, a seance circle, with W T Stead (far right) and staff. The Bureau was based in Mowbray House, Norfolk Street, London, its purpose being to bridge the gap between the living and the dead. Julia was a deceased American journalist, Julia Ames, who apparently communicated with Stead.
