Description | Origin Species, CH Bennett, Courting man - frog |
Details |
He would a-wooing go'. Satire on Darwin's 'Origin of Species' showing the evolution of a rotund man, from a frog. Middle aged, swelled out of all proportion and adorned with the newest waistcoat and heavy watch-chain, with a flower in his buttonhole and curl in his hair. He is fat, complacent and happy...and has come courting! It's easy to see how he might have evolved from the frog, but alas the frogs fate is sealed by the duck (laid from the egg evolved from his hat) who consumes him.
